　Twitter, Inc.は現地時間2018年02月16日、Mac用Twitterクライアント「Twitter for Mac」の公開を終了し、今週の03月16日をもってサポートも終了すると発表しましたが、このTwitter for Macのバイナリを書き換え280文字のツイートなどを可能にしてくれる「LauncherX」アプリが公開されています。

　LauncherXを公開したのは「TwitterX」プロジェクトを公開していた英DeliverooのエンジニアCarlos Vidalさんで、公開が終了したTwitter for MacをMac App Storeの「購入済み」タブから再ダウンロードし、LauncherXアプリにドラッグ&ドロップするだけで、280文字のツイートや丸いスタイルのアバター、フルスクリーンモードやテーマの修正などを行ってくれるので、興味のある方は試してみて下さい。

おまけ

　ただし、Twitterは2018年06月20日に”User Streams”やDMのAPIの廃止する予定なので、それ以降はAPIの切替など技術的に難しいようです。

The biggest milestone for this project is switching APIs once Twitter shuts down the API backing the macOS application in June 2018, whether this will be feasible or not it is still hard to tell.
