　HomebrewやSwift Package Managerを開発したMaxさんがGitHubリポジトリのアクティビティに対しリアルタイム通知を出してくれるMacアプリ「Canopy」をリリースしたそうです。詳細は以下から。

　macOSのパッケージマネージャとして有名な「Homebrew」開発者で、2015年にはAppleに入社し「Swift Package Manager」の開発を担当されていたMax Howellさんが、新たに「Canopy」という開発者向けユーティリティアプリをリリースしたそうです。

Canopy is 100% Swift, client and server. Which meant it was super fun to write. I’m hopeful also that this will make it very cheap server-side, but we’ll see.

Canopy provides you with realtime notifications of the GitHub activity on your repositories so you can respond to your users and colleagues promptly, making it possible to have real‑time conversations on pull-requests and issues, getting the job done faster and more efficiently.

Tapping Canopy’s notifications opens the relevant GitHub page in your web-browser; no more hunting through emails for the link.

Canopy is free for open source (public repositories) with a subscription for private repositories.

Canopy ‐ Stay on top of development

　CanopyはユーザーのGitHubリポジトリのアクティビティに反応し、リアルタイム通知をMacのデスクトップ上に表示してくれるアプリで、GitHubでアプリを認証しWebhookをインストールするだけで、リポジトリでアクティビティが発生すると以下のように通知が表示されます。

　Canopyはプライベートリポジトリのプッシュ通知も月額550円(アプリ内課金)のサブスクリプション制で対応しているそうですが、オープンソース(パブリックリポジトリ)に関しては無料で利用でき、iOSアプリも開発しているそうなので、興味のある方はチェックしてみてください。

Unlimited push notifications for private repositories is enabled via an auto‐renewing subscription. Your GitHub account must have at least read access to the private repository. The duration of every period of the subscription is 1 month.

　ちなみに、Max Howellさんは学生時代「化学」を専攻していたそうですが、化学の修士号を取った後は専門職を1年で辞め、Last.fmやTweetDeckで働き、2015年にはAppleへ入社しSwift Package Managerの開発を担当していましたが、既にAppleを退社してジョージア州へ引っ越し、2017年に奥さんとモバイルアプリの開発会社「Codebase LLC.」を設立したそうで、

Max Howell has a master’s degree in chemistry, but after a year in the profession, abandoned it upon realizing chemistry is “super boring”. He began exploring open source coding. After working at Last.fm, then TweetDeck, Howell created Homebrew, an open source software manager that is today used by about 50 million people.
