　カナダのPrimate Labs Inc.は現地時間8月29日、WindowsやmacOS, iOS, Androidプラットフォームに対応したベンチマークアプリ「Geekbench(関連記事)」の最新版となるバージョン4.0をリリースしたと発表しています。

I’m excited to announce that Geekbench 4 is now available. You can download Geekbench 4 for Windows, macOS, and Linux from the Geekbench website. You can also download Geekbench 4 for Android from Google Play, and Geekbench 4 for iOS from the App Store.

新しいベンチマーク

　開発者のJohn Pooleさんは、「ここ数年の間にモバイルデバイスは64-bit化され、各社のフラグシップモデルは2GB RAMを搭載し、最新のデスクトップやノートPCのパフォーマンスに近づきつつある」として、ベンチマークのワークフローをアップデートし、新たに8つのGPUベンチマークワークフローを加えています。

Now, three years later, the average mobile device is quite different. Most phones and tablets have a 64-bit processor with at least 2GB of RAM. Flagship smartphone and tablet performance approaches (and sometimes surpasses) modern desktops and laptops. The compromises we had to make in Geekbench 3 to run well on both computers and mobile devices are no longer necessary in Geekbench 4.

デザイン

　また、Geekbench v4ではデザインも刷新されており、iOS版はインターフェイスを見やすく、Android版はGoogleのマテリアルデザインが採用されているそうです。

スコア

　気になるGeekbench v4のスコアですが、v4のスコアは新たにIntel Core i7-6600U@2.6 GHzを4000ポイントの基準として設定しているため、

Geekbench 3 scores are calibrated using a Mac mini (Mid 2011) with an Intel Core i5-2520M @ 2.50 GHz processor as a baseline with a score of 2,500 points.

v3のIntel Core i5-2520M@2.5GHzを2500ポイントの基準としたベンチマークとは全く同じスコアとはならないので注意が必要のようです。

確認してみたところ一応近いスコアになるようになっていますが、Geekbench v4のスコアはGeekbenchブラウザでは「Geekbench 4.x.x」のスコアとして別扱いされます。

価格

　Geekbench v4 デスクトップ版は無料でも利用できますが、その場合“Tryout”として利用できないベンチマークがあるほか、スコアがGeekbenchブラウザに自動送信されてしまうため、この機能を止めるには公式ストアでライセンスを購入する必要があるそうです。v4の価格は以下のとおりで、9月13日までは20%OFFセールを行っています。
