Googleは現地時間2021年04月29日、次期Androidアプリ用の統合開発環境「Android Studio Arctic Fox」のプレビュー版となる「Arctic Fox Canary 15」を公開し、同バージョンからApple Siliconのサポート準備を開始したと発表しています。
Android Studio Arctic Fox Canary 15 contains very preliminary support for Apple Silicon (arm64). We are still working on it, but wanted to get early #AndroidDev feedback.

Android Studio Arctic Fox Canary 15 contains preliminary support for Apple Silicon (arm64). This version of Android Studio for this platform is still under active development, but we wanted to get a functional version out to the app developer community to get feedback. On top of the Intellij build, design tools work, and the Android Emulator works with API 30 and API S Developer Preview emulator system images.

Android Studio Arctic Fox Canary 15では、IntelとApple SiliconをサポートしたUniversal 2 Binaryとなっていますが、IDEアプリケーションやエミュレータはApple Silicon (arm64)に対応しているものの、build-toolsやplatform-tools、Android NDKなどが現在もx86_64アーキテクチャバイナリで、
既にAVD Managerを通して提供を開始しているAndroid Emulatorは現在のところAPI 30とAPI S Developer Previewのみの提供で、複数の既知の不具合以外の問題もユーザーからのフィードバックを求めているので、連休中に暇のある方は試してみてください。
