　Appleは現地時間2019年09月10日、Apple本社のキャンパス内にあるSteave Jobs Theaterにて行ったスペシャルイベント「By innovation only.」の中で、新しい10.2インチRetinaディスプレイを搭載した「iPad (第7世代)」を2019年09月30日より発売すると発表しています。

iPad (第7世代)の特徴

　Appleは2018年03月に発売した第6世代となる「9.7インチ iPad」でApple Pencil (第1世代)をサポートしましたが、iPad (第7世代)はこのApple Pencil (第1世代)に加えてAirやProに次いでiPadとしては初めてフルサイズのSmart Keyboard (Smart Connectorを使用)をサポートし、iPadに最適化されたiPadOSを搭載。

　また、iPad (第7世代)には、これまでの9.7インチRetinaディスプレイでなく、iPad Pro (2017)やiPad Air (第3世代)と同サイズの10.5インチRetinaディスプレイが採用され、プロセッサには引き続き「A10 Fusion」チップが採用されているものの、その性能とディスプレイは現在最も売れているラップトップPCの2倍のプロセッサ性能、ディスプレイは3.3倍のピクセル解像度、2.5倍の輝度、3.7倍の視野角となっているそうです。

　プロセッサが「A10 Fusion (+M10コプロセッサ)」ということで、ベンチマークスコアなどは旧モデルや同じくA10 Fusion搭載のiPhone 7などとあまり変わらないと思われますが、A10 FusionはHEIF/HEVCエンコードやARKitをサポートており、エントリーモデルはiPad Pro/Airはもちろん、旧モデルやiPad miniよりも安いので、iPadの入門機やSidecar用のサブiPadとしてはいいと思います。

　iPad (第7世代)の価格は32GBストレージが税別34,800円、128GBストレージモデルが44,800円で、カラーはシルバー、スペースグレー、ゴールドが用意されており、筐体は100%リサイクル・アルミニウムでiPadOSを搭載し、本日より予約が開始されiPadOSのリリース日と同じ2019年09月30日より発売が開始されます。
