　Appleは現地時間2017年08月18日、大学や博物館, 文化機関などが提供している講義ビデオやオーディオブックをまとめた”iTunes U”のコレクションを2017年09月にポッドキャストへ移動すると発表し、サポートドキュメントを公開しています。

In September 2017, iTunes U collections will start moving to the Podcasts app on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Apple TV, or the Podcasts section of iTunes on your Mac or PC.[…]After the move, iTunes U will no longer appear in iTunes on your Mac or PC and you won’t be able to download new content to your computer. 　iTunes Uコレクションの移動後はMacやPCのiTunesに”iTunes U”が表示されなくなり、新しいコンテンツをコンピュータにダウンロードできなくなるそうですが、以下の方法でその後もiTunes Uのコンテンツにアクセスできると説明しているので、利用されている方はチェックしてみて下さい。

• iTunes UのコンテンツはPodcastへ移動するため、iPhoneやiPad, Apple TVのポッドキャストアプリ、MacやPCではiTunesのポッドキャストセクションへ移動し、アーティスト名やコレクション名で検索することでコンテンツを発見できます。
• iTunes Uの公開コースにアクセスするには、iOSアプリのiTunes Uを使用します。
• 新しいiTunes Uコレクションの購読方法はポッドキャストの購読方法と同じです。
• iOSデバイスのペアレンタルコントロールを利用してポッドキャストアプリを制限している場合はiTunes Uコレクションを見ることが出来ません。
• 組織でiTunes Uコンテンツを管理している管理者の方はこちらのページを参考にして下さい。

おまけ

　AppleはWWDC 2017でここ数年の間に成長しているPodcast市場に合わせPodcastアプリをアップデートし、ガイドラインの作成やiTunes ConnectでPodcastのアナリティクスを提供すると発表しているので、統合されたiTunes Uコンテンツもこれらの機能が利用できるようになると思われます。

　また、iTunesから”iTunes U”の表示が消えるのはmacOS 10.13 High Sierra betaでもテストされている「iTunes v12.7」(現在の最新版はv12.6.2)となっているので、High Sierraのリリースも例年通り9月中になるかもしれません。

Starting in iTunes 12.7, iTunes U collections become Apple Podcasts. With this change, Apple will automatically migrate all your collections to podcasts, your collection content will be available in the Podcasts app and the Podcasts section in iTunes, and your iTunes U catalog will be courses only.
