　米OWCは現地時間2024年03月21日、OWCや買収したAKiTiO、その他サードパーティ製のストレージでストライピング(RAID 0)やミラーリング(RAID 1)を構成することができるRAIDユーティリティ「SoftRAID」の最新バージョンとなる「SoftRAID v8.0 for Mac/Windows」をリリースしたと発表しています。

　SoftRAID v8.0ではMacでRAID 5ボリュームへの書き込み時のCPU使用率が前バージョンと比較して最大75%削減(4倍効率化)され、Apple Silicon MacでのPCIe RAID 4と5の書き込み速度が50%、WindowsでのRAID 5パフォーマンスが最大175%向上したほか、

USB4のサポート、NVMe SMARTモニタリングの強化、そしてWindowsではRAID 4や全RAIDレベルでAppleのAPFSフォーマットのサポートが行われているそうです。

　また、SoftRAID v8.0新しいライセンス形態になり、SoftRAIDの全ての機能を利用できるPremiumサブスクリプション*に加え、SoftRAID Premiumdeで構成したRAIDボリュームへフルアクセスや故障時のドライブの再構築などが可能なStandardバージョンが無料で提供されることになったそうなので、RAIDストレージを構成したい方は試してみてください。
