We’ve encountered an issue on the Mac where Adobe Creative Cloud appears to be removing the contents of the first hidden folder at the root of the drive, in alphabetic order. By happenstance, the first hidden folder on most Backblaze customer’s internal drive is the .bzvol folder. You can learn more about this folder and what it does in this article:
When Adobe Creative Cloud updates or even a fresh install it deletes the Backblaze files inside the /.bzvol folder. Backblaze uses that folder to keep track of the hard drive it is backing up. Adobe is deleting files in another application.
To correct this, please do the following:
Open Terminal, which is found in Utilities under your Application folder.
Copy and paste the below command, pressing enter after:
sudo mkdir /.adobedontdeletemybzvol
After you press enter, you will need to enter your Mac Admin password and hit enter to create the folder.
This should protect your .bzvol folder from being emptied by Adobe Creative Cloud, as the new folder is now first alphabetically.
