Production of a new 21-inch iMac featuring a 4096 by 2304 screen kicked off in early September and will be launched in the fourth quarter, with shipments in the quarter estimated at 1.4-1.5 million units, according to Taiwan-based supply chain makers.

また、サプライヤーは同時に「AppleのiMacは高い平均販売価格（Average Sales Price）でローエンドモデルでも1,099ドルからで、これはLenovoのオールインワンPCのハイエンドモデルの価格に値します。（しかし）iMac Retina 4K, 21-inchモデルは第4四半期だけで140 ~ 150万台の出荷が見込まれ、Lenovoが今年半期に出荷したオールインワンPCの販売台数を上回る可能性がある」とコメントしているそうです。

10月1日にはOS X 10.11 El Capitanのリリースが予定されていますが、Daring FireBallによるとAppleはこの秋にはもうスペシャル・イベントを行わないようなので、iMac Retina 4K, 21-inchモデルはEl Capitanリリース後、プレスリリースだけで発表される可能性がある様です。
