Appleは現地時間2019年03月25日、Steve Jobs Theaterにて開催したスペシャルイベント「It’s show time.」の中で、AppleのNewsアプリをアップデートし、このNewsアプリを通して新しい定額制雑誌購読サービス「Apple News +(プラス)」を提供すると発表しました。

Apple News +はAppleがiOS 9/macOS MojaveからAppleデバイスに導入している「Newsアプリ」を通して提供され、本日リリースされるmacOS 10.14.4 MojaveおよびiOS 12.2以降のNewsアプリが対応。このサービスは月額9.99ドルのサブスクリプション制で無料のトライアル期間が1ヶ月用意されており、
今日から利用可能になるのはアメリカとカナダで、カナダでは英語とフランス語コンテンツがサポートされ、パブリッシャーはカバーにアニメーションカバーを利用することができ、ユーザーはMacやiPhone,iPadに最適化されたコンテンツを楽しむことができるそうです。
また、Apple News +はファミリー共有に無料で対応しているので、ファミリー共有の管理者(例えば親)が購読すれば子供のiOS/macOSデバイスでも購読可能で、今年後半にはイギリスとオーストラリアでのサービス開始を予定しているそうです。
日本ではAppleのNewsアプリもリージョンで表示されないため、いわゆる「おま国」のサービスですが、今後サービス地域は拡大されると思われます。
