TweakTown、Thunderboltケーブルのベンチマークテストを公開。

　20Gbpsの転送速度を持つThunderbolt 2規格ですが、「その転送速度はThunderboltケーブルの質によって左右されないのか？」っという疑問に答えるべくTweakTwonが複数のブランド（メーカー）のThuderboltケーブルを使用したベンチマークテストを公開しています。詳細は以下から。

　このベンチマークテストはMacBook Pro Retina 13インチ(Late 2013)とLaCie Little Big Disk Thunderbolt 2を使用して行われ、複数のメーカーのThunderboltケーブルを使用して転送速度を計測しています。

使用したThunderboltケーブルは
・住友電工（100cmケーブル）

・StarTech（100cmケーブル）

・OWC（100cmケーブル）

・LaCie Little Big Disk付属（100cmケーブル）

・Apple（50cmケーブル）

・Akitio（50cmケーブル）

の6種類で、ベンチマークには「diglloydTools disk tester」「BlackMagic Disk Speed Test」「Quickbench 4.0」の3種類を使用したそうです 。

Thunderboltケーブルの見た目はAkitioの細芯ケーブル以外全て同様。

ベンチマーク結果

　結果としては「Black Magic Disk Speed TestのWriteテストで一番速いOWCのケーブルと一番遅いAkitioのケーブルの間に50 MB/sの差が出ており、更にQuickBenchでは一番速いStarTechのケーブルと一番遅いLaCie付属のケーブルとの間に35 MB/sの差がでている」っとしています。

　TweakTownでは「100分の1程度の速度差ですが、Thuderboltケーブルが付属していないデバイスを購入し別途Thunderboltケーブルを購入する際はStarTechやOWC製のケーブルがいいでしょう。」っとしています。（更に詳しいベンチマーク結果はTweaTownの記事へどうぞ）

　If we look at all of our write testing, you can clearly see the difference between the cables. In Diglloydtools, the difference between the highest and lowest performing cables was 10 MB/s. With Black Magic and Quickbench, the difference was greater at 50 MB/s.

　What do you do if your purchased device did not come with a cable? Do you buy any cable off the shelf and go with it? Or is there truly a “best” cable for storage? If we go back and look at the results of all the testing, we can clearly see a trend where the StarTech 40-inch cable and the OWC 40-inch cable come out on top in every scenario.
