　米カリフォルニア州の周辺機器メーカーinXtronは現地時間2018年08月14日、同社のAKiTiOブランドよりThunderbolt 3対応のMacBook ProやiMac RetinaにUSB Type-AポートやDisplayPort、eSATA、10 Gigabit Ethernetポートなどを増設できるThunderbolt 3 Dock「Thunder3 Dock Pro」を新たに発売すると発表しています。

Thunder3 Dock Proの特徴

　Thunder3 Dock Proの特徴はなんといっても「10Gbps Ethernet」ポートを搭載している点で、同ポートは2018年07月現在のところiMac Proにしか搭載されていないため、その他のMacで利用するにはThunderbolt 3 to 10Gb Ethernetアダプターなどが必要でしたが、Thunder3 Dock Proを利用すればこれらのアダプターを利用せずiMac Proと高速なファイル転送が可能で、

10Gbps Ethernetポートに加え以下の規格のポートも搭載し、60WまでのPower Deliveryにも対応しているので、13インチMacBook Pro 2016~2018ではAppleのACアダプタと同じ速度でMacBook Proを充電することも可能となっています。

　また、データシートによるとThunder3 Dock Proは筐体を冷やすために冷却ファンが搭載されており、ファンのON/OFFスイッチも搭載されているそうですが、30分以上ファンをOFFのまま使用しないよう注意書きがされています。

　Thunder3 Dock Proの価格は359.99ドルで2018年08月中の発売を予定しており、Thunderbolt 3ポートを搭載したMac/Windows PCで利用できるそうですが、Macの場合は10Gb EthernetドライバがサポートされているmacOS 10.13.4 High Sierra以上、PCの場合はWindows 10 (64-bit)と10GbE Networkドライバが必要になるそうなので、興味のある方は公式サイトをチェックしてみてください。
