　Mac用マルウェア検出アプリ「Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for Mac」がMacKeeperをPUPと認定し、数クリックで削除する事ができるようになったそうです。詳細は以下から。

　カリフォルニアのセキュリティ企業Malwarebytes社のThomas Reedさんらが開発している「Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for Mac」はMacのマルウェアやアドウェアなどを特定し、簡単に削除することが出来るマルウェア検出アプリですが、このMalwarebyte for MacがMacKeeperをPUPと認定したそうです。

These are some of the reasons that we have decided to identify MacKeeper as a PUP, or “potentially unwanted program.” There are other reasons as well, stemming from previous abuses which can be read about in other articles, but for the purpose of this article, we felt it was important to focus entirely on what we’re seeing today.

　PUP(Potentially Unwanted Program)はOSに実害は無いものの、ユーザーが不要とする機能やポップアップを表示し害を与える可能性があるプログラムの総称ですが、ThomasさんらはMacKeeperの開発元であるKromtechとコンタクトをとった上で以下の理由からPUPと認定したそうです。

• 偽のウィルススキャンポップアップを表示しMacKeeperをダウンロードさせようとする
• Kromtechによれば、このポップアップは悪意のある広告業者が表示しているためMacKeeperに問題はない
• しかし、MacKeeperのチャット機能を利用しても同様の偽ウィルス”Tapsnake”の脅威があると言われる
• 最近ではAdobe Flash Playerの偽のアップデートにも同梱されている
