Appleは現地時間02月09日、このAirTag (第2世代)の機能のうち、日本では拡大した正確な場所を見つける (Precision Finding)や人を探す (Find People)、Apple Watchでの正確な場所を見つける機能が利用できないと発表しています。

In Japan, due to local regulation, some Ultra Wideband frequencies aren’t available to customers, and as such, some Ultra Wideband features aren’t available, including expanded Precision Finding range, Find People, and Precision Finding on Apple Watch. 　Appleがサポートドキュメントに追加した文章によると、日本では現地の規制*により超広帯域無線(UWB:Ultra WideBand)の一部周波数が利用者に提供されないため、UWBを利用した上記の機能が利用できず、日本で第2世代のUltra Widebandチップ搭載デバイスを利用すると、前世代(第1世代)のUltra Widebandチップの機能になってしまうそうなので、AirTag (第2世代)を購入される方は注意してください。
