　PhoneExpanderはiOSデバイスをiTunesに接続した際に表示される「その他（キャッシュ）」を削除してiOSデバイスの空き容量を増やしてくれるPhoneCleanの様なMac用ユーティリティアプリで、開発はiOSアプリ制作会社のNice Mohawk LimitedとMagnetism Studiosの共同開発チーム。

使い方

　現在ベータ版が無料でダウンロード出来るので、公式サイトからアプリをダウンロードし、アプリを起動（メールアドレスの登録を求められます）。次にiOSデバイスを接続します。

　次に「Clear Temporary Files」「Remove Apps」「Clear Photos」の中から削除したい項目を選択（現在のベータ版(v1.0)では「Clear Music」は使用できません）。

　「Clear Temporary Files」はアプリの一時ファイル（いわゆる「その他」）の削除をアプリ別に可能。

There are lots of temporary files on your phone, wasting your space! In iTunes, they’re simply listed as “Other”, but they’re impossible to remove. PhoneExpander can take them away without hurting your phone.

　Mashableの「キャッシュファイルを削除してアプリのデータが消える可能性はないのか？」という疑問には、Magnetism StudiosのCEO＆開発担当者Joshua Keayさんが次のように答えており、実際使用してみましたが、セーブデータや設定ファイルが消えることはありませんでした。

iOSアプリ内のキャッシュのほとんどが貴方が最近見た画像や動画などで、iOSやアプリはそれらのキャッシュを自動的に削除するように設計されているが、それが十分に機能しないとそれらのキャッシュが積み重なってしまう（のでPhoneExpanderはそれらを削除する）。ユーザーデータや設定ファイルのほとんどはiCloudによって別のところに保存されています。

Caches in iOS applications store data that is available elsewhere, mostly images and video from the web that the user has recently viewed. The operating system and the app itself are designed to clear these caches automatically but doesn’t do it aggressively enough, so they pile up. User data, preferences and settings are stored in separate databases which are generally backed up via iCloud.
