　JDK 28では、AppleがmacOS 27 Golden Gateでサポートを終了したIntel Mac向けOpenJDKが非推奨となり、今後macOS/x64ポートの廃止を計画しているそうです。詳細は以下から。

　Appleは日本時間2026年09月15日にリリースした「macOS 27 Golden Gate」でIntel Macのサポートを正式に終了しましたが、それに伴い、OpenJDKが提供しているJDK(Java Development Kit)も次期JDK 28でIntel Macの非推奨化を開始するそうです。

JEP 541: Deprecate the macOS/x64 Port for Removal – OpenJDK

　WWDC26が開催された2026年06月に公開されたJEP 541によると、AppleはハードウェアをAArch64アーキテクチャへ移行し、現在x64のサポートを段階的に終了しているため、OracleのエンジニアもJDK 27以降で負担になるmacOS/x64ポートの保守を停止するという提案がされていました。

　この提案は、信頼できる開発者のグループが保守を引き継ぐ意思があれば非推奨化を撤回するという代替案がついていましたが、現在のところ次期JDK 28で導入される見込みで、現在Intel MacでJDKのmacOS/x64をビルドすると以下のような警告が出てビルドが停止するようになっています。

　JEP 541ではJDK 28でも”–enable-deprecated-ports”オプションを付ければmacOS/x64ポートがビルドできるとされていますが、今後は正常に動くことも保証しないとのことなので、今後Macの開発環境は急速にApple Silicon Macへシフトしていきそうです。

おまけ

　なお、MacのパッケージマネージャーHomebrewも先月リリースした「Homebrew v7.0.0」でmacOS 11 Big SurからmacOS 26 TahoeまでのIntel Macの扱いをbrewコマンドが動作する可能性はあるがサポートは行わないTier 3へ移行しており、2027年09月には全てのmacOSでIntel Macのサポートを終了すると発表しています。
