セキュリティ製品などの検証を行うドイツの独立機関”AV-TEST”は2017年07月05日、2014年から行っているOS X/macOS向けのウィルス対策アプリの最新バージョンの比較試験結果を新たに公開したと発表しています。

Additional security packages for the Mac were not popular, as in the past, they put too heavy a load on the system. The current test with 10 leading security packages for MacOS Sierra proves that many packages now go easy on resources, yet still provide excellent protection.

試験環境とテストアプリ
今回AV-TESTがテストしたアプリは以下の全10アプリで、2016年12月以前に行われたテストに含まれていたAvastやSophosなどの無料アプリは今回除外され、全て市販されている製品(アプリ)をmacOS Sierra環境でテストしたそうです。
調査に使用されたウィルス対策アプリ（A-Z順）

- Canimaan Software ClamXav Sentry 2.12
- ESET Endpoint Security 6.4
- Intego Mac Internet Security X9 10.9
- Kaspersky Lab Internet Security for Mac 16
- MacKeeper 3.14
- ProtectWorks AntiVirus 2.0
- Sophos Central Endpoint 9.6
- Symantec Norton Security 7.3
- Trend Micro Trend Micro Antivirus 7.0
Currently, 10 packages from known manufacturers are being put to the test. All the candidates involved are commercially available products. The test focused on protection against pure Mac threats and performance, the system load caused by their use.

検出率
ウィルスやマルウェアなどの検出率は184個の検体を検出できるかを測定しており、そのうち100%をマークしたのはBitdefenderおよびIntego, Kaspersky Lab, Symantecの4ベンダーのアプリで、Trend MicroやCanimaan Software, ESET, Sophosが99.5~98.4%と続き、94.5%のProtectWorksまでの製品は、
The protection benchmark was to recognize and fend off 184 strictly Mac malware threats. In this test, a total of four products detected all the threats 100 percent. These frontrunners come from Bitdefender, Intego, Kaspersky Lab and Symantec. […] Only the MacKeeper package detected a mere 85.9 percent of the tested malware and therefore receives no certificate.

この実験から「保証」の評定を受け取ることが出来ますが、MacKeeperについては検出率が85.9%だったため保証することが出来ないようです。また、AV-TESTは5,300個のWindows向けマルウェアを利用した検出率を測定したところWindows用アプリでも検出率の高いBitdefenderおよびESET, Kaspersky Lab, Sophos, Trend Microが検出率99%以上をマークしたそうです。
パフォーマンス
パフォーマンステストは合計27.3GBのファイルを同一のMacにコピーし、複数のファイルをダウンロードする際に発生するセキュリティ製品による遅延を調べるテストで、セキュリティ製品を利用していない場合のコピー/ダウンロードにかかった時間239秒に対し、
The packages from Canimaan Software, MacKeeper, Kaspersky Lab and Symantec are equivalent, or almost equivalent, to the reference time. The times of the packages from Sophos and Trend Micro are merely five seconds longer, i.e. an additional system load of just over 2%.

Canimaan SoftwareおよびMacKeeper, Kaspersky Lab, Symantecのベンダーの製品がリファレンスタイムとほぼ同じで、それ以外のアプリもあまりシステムに影響を及ぼしていませんが、ProtectWorksとIntegoの製品はリファレンスタイムより10~16%程度の遅延を引き起こしているそうです。
PUA
また、AV-TESTは比較の対象とはしなかったものの、特定のアプリに同梱されたり不安を煽るポップアップを出しMacへのインストールを強要するユーザーにとって不必要なアプリPUA(Potentially Unwanted Application)の検出率についてもテストを行ったそうで、
The lab unleashed 195 annoying PUAs on the Macs. Most packages even sort these programs out. Bitdefender, ESET, Intego and Symantec have a 99% rate.

195個のPUAを用いた検出率試験ではBitdefenderおよびESET, Intego, Symantecの5ベンダーの製品が検出率99%をマークしたそうです。
まとめ
AV-TESTが行った検出率とパフォーマンステストのデータを2015年からまとめると以下の通りで、これまで検出率およびパフォーマンスのバランスが最も良かったKaspersky LabおよびSymantecの製品で、次いでBitdefenderとIntegoの製品となっていますが、両製品は多少Macのパフォーマンスに影響を与えています。

某ロシア製AVソフトを仕事で使わされているが話にならない。
nasへのファイル書き戻しを失敗させる、スクリプトを含んだアプリの起動を
コッソリ妨害してメッセージはおろかログにも残さない外道ソフトと認識
している。
AVソフトと知らない人ほどパンフ見ただけでキワモノ導入したがるから迷惑。
正直getekeeperやMRTの修正から数日での対応がザラでMacでのアンチウイルスソフトの価値が感じられない。
ヒューステリック搭載ソフトもWindowsほどの成果が見られていないし。
