Dropbox、2016年2月以降にメールアプリ「Mailbox」と写真管理アプリ「Carousel」のサービスを終了すると発表。

　オンラインクラウドサービスDropboxが自社が開発しているメールアプリ「Mailbox」と写真管理アプリ「Carousel」の開発およびサービス全体を終了すると発表しています。詳細は以下から。

Mailbox

　「Mailbox」はDropboxが2013年3月にOrchestra Inc.から買収したiOS/Android用メールサービス＆アプリで、Dropboxと連携しファイルを扱うことが可能になっていましたが、2016年2月26日にサービスを終了するとそうです。

　サービス終了以降はMailboxサーバーを停止しログインできなくなるそうで、GmailやiCloudの電子メールには影響しませんが、それ以外のユーザーデータはサービス終了後30日以内に全て完全に削除されると発表しています。

Deleting Mailbox
Beginning February 26, 2016, Mailbox service will stop and you will no longer be able to login. You will need to manually delete the Mailbox app from your device(s). Instructions for deleting Mailbox from iPhone and iPad are available here, and from Android here.

What will happen to my data?
To ensure the best protection of user privacy and to assist potential user issues we will delete all user data from our servers thirty (30) days after shutting the service down. This will not affect your email content in Gmail and iCloud.

Carousel

　また、Dropboxは同社の写真管理サービス＆アプリ「Carousel」の開発も2016年3月31日をもって終了すると発表しており、Carouselアプリで利用していた写真はDropboxのPhotosタブからサービス終了後も利用できるとコメントしています。

On March 31st, we’re shutting down Carousel as a standalone app and returning to a single Dropbox photo experience. Carousel has always been a way to view and interact with photos stored in Dropbox. All the photos in your Carousel timeline will remain safe in your Dropbox where they’ve always been. If you have photos you received through conversations or shared albums that you want to save, check out the instructions in our Help Center.
