新しいiPod touchはBluetooth 4.1をサポート。Bluetooth Smartなどが強化され、次期iPhoneではLTE干渉抑制も期待。

　新しいiPod touchはBluetooth 4.1をサポートしたそうです。詳細は以下から。

　本日、AppleはiPod touchを刷新しプロセッサにApple A8, コプロセッサにM8を搭載しスペックの向上を図っていますが、9to5Macでは「新しいiPod touchで最も重要なのはAppleのデバイスとして初めてBluetooth 4.1を採用した事だ」とコメントしており、MacStoriesでは「開発者達はIoTのテストデバイスとして歓迎している」と見ているようです。

9to5Mac points out that the iPod touch comes with Bluetooth 4.1 – a first for Apple (the iPhone 6 has Bluetooth 4.0). The updated standard will likely be adopted on new iPhones in the Fall as it has some interesting upgrades for communication between LTE and Bluetooth radios, but it also includes changes for connected “Internet of Things” devices – perhaps Zac has a point when he envisions the iPod as a smart home remote.

Bluetooth 4.1

　Bluetooth 4.1はBluetooth SIGが2013年12月に制定した規格で、主に以下の3つの新機能＆改善点が上げられています。

1. Coexistence（共存）：LTEなどの最新の携帯デバイスとの共存で、近い周波数帯との干渉を抑制する機能が強化される。
2. Better Connections（よりシームレスな接続）：再接続間隔をより柔軟に変更することが可能で、メーカーや開発者はより接続制御を行いやすくなったほか、据置のBluetoothデバイスAを使用していたユーザーが携帯型Bluetoothデバイスを持って部屋を出ると別のデバイスBに接続し、また部屋に戻ると元のデバイスAと接続するというようなユーザー・エクスペリエンスが向上が見込まれる。
3. Improved Data Transfer（データ転送の改善）：Bluetooth Smartが大量のデータ転送をサポート。これにより、（ウェアラブルデバイスなどの）センサーがランニングやツーリング、水泳中に集めたデータをユーザーが帰宅した時に効率的に転送できる。

　1のLTEの干渉については新しいiPod touchには関係ありませんが、次期iPhoneに期待されており、接続の制御やデータ転送についてはIoTやウェアラブルデバイスとの関係が期待でき、（例えばSonosスピーカーの様な複数のデバイスを同時に使用できる）Bluetooth Smart Readyハブとしても使用可能の様です。

This means that the iPod touch, for instance, could be a hub for Sonos-like speaker array or multiple different devices in use at the same time. Use of the iPod touch as a hub for Internet of Things makers hasn’t yet taken off, but at $199 and dropping, perhaps that’s a new direction for the iPod touch to travel.
